A project to map gaps in our knowledge of insect conservation actions
We are conducting a rigorous systematic map of literature reviews to identify relevant evidence syntheses on insect conservation actions. We are following standards for systematic mapping developed by the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence to ensure a reliable output. We are extracting actions from across >9,000 potentially relevant reviews.
Find out more about our planned methods by reading our preprint systematic map protocol. This protocol is now in press in the journal Environmental Evidence and will be published shortly. Check out progress in our public SysRev project page here.
We are assembling a diverse group of leading international experts to help us to build an ontology (a 'tree' of terminology for different actions) that clusters similar actions together and identifies the many different ways the same action might be described differently by researchers across the world.
Because the research literature on insect conservation is far too big for any one person to read, we will make use of sophisticated computational algorithms to identify what research exists on each of the insect conservation actions that we have identified across our ontology using semi-supervised topic modelling.
